About Molly

I can’t remember a time when I didn’t make art.  My earliest memories are of pencil and paper, pen and ink.  Born in Montreal, as a young child I attended the école de beaux arts.  In 1991 I graduated from OCA(D) with honours in fine arts, specializing in drawing and painting.  Since 2021 I have been Curator at the Art Gallery of Bancroft; I am also currently Chair of the gallery’s board of directors.

A visual artist whose primary focus in recent years has been abstraction, my repertoire has also embraced more conceptual work. My habitual art practice tends toward dramatic gesture and emotional colour; art that may respond to and reflect the tumultuous sociopolitical issues of our time, or the less world-shaking issues of interpersonal relationships and sometimes, the ever-changing beauty of my surroundings. I am drawn equally to intense colour, texture, and intent, all reflected in my work. Dialogue with the viewer is everything.

Over the past 30+ years my art practice has explored such diverse themes as democracy and international politics (The Democracy Project, Art Gallery of Peterborough, 2004), the AIDS pandemic (Impact Aids, Rebecca Gallery, 2006), familial relationships, and always, the abstract nature of our universe.
